Dinosaurs!!

Have you guys ever been here? It's the Ancient Life Museum at Thanksgiving Point and it is so cool. On Tuesday Jefferson and I went with my two sisters, my mom, and my two nieces and had a blast. Jefferson loved every minute of it. The gaurd rails on most of the exhibits were just his height so he thought he was cool stuff. He was running around jabbering and laughing and pounding of the glass walls of exhibits and having a grand old time. They have tons of hands on displays so kids can really get in and learn. they even have a place where you can dig for fossils and play in the sand. Also, they had this giant scale and you could stand on it and it would tell which dinosaur your wieght puts you closest to. (I do not care to discuss which dinosaur I came to resemble in the weight category :)
My sister told me that she thinks this museum is one of the largest, if not the largest dinosaur museum in the country. It was truely amazing to see how much life there used to be. Some dinos were so very small, like the sea dragons, and others were completely and utterly huge!

The bonus was that during the month of August they had 2 buck Tuesdays and since Jefferson is under the age of 2 he was free. So, an afternoon of fun was only 2 bucks. Afterwards we went to lunch at Wendy's and since they only had one booster set (rediculous right) Jefferson got to be a big boy and sit in his own chair, except he kept standing up and dancing to the music and wouldn't eat his lunch. He is such a fun kid!!

Laundry!!

I try not to do laundry while Jefferson is awake and underfoot because he is such a great "helper", but the other day Jason just had to do a load and these are some pictures of Jefferson "helping" daddy.

I think Jason realized why I only do the laundry while the little guy is sleeping. Although, I did have fun watching while he did the laundry.

Thrift Store Find!

I found this shelving unit at the thrift store for only 3 bucks. I really wanted to put up floating shelves in our living room, but I didn't think our walls would do very well with the hardware, so when I found this I was so excited. This is what it looked like before... sorry the picture is upside down...

And this is what it looks like now. After ripping the top off and sanding, staining, finishing, and replacing the hardware, I am happy with the result!!

I also have a lot of postcards and maps from our European trip that I really want to decorate the study with. However, I am at a loss of ideas. I don't want to frame all of them individually and that is where my ideas stop. Anyone got any other ideas?

Introducing...!

Dr. Jason Christopher Thomas, PhD
After 4 years of undergraduate study and 5 years of graduate study, Jason has at last finished his research. I am so very proud of him and all the hard work that he has put into his schooling. He really is the smartest person I know. Some times it is down right annoying, but he is great and I am so glad that he is the provider and not me.

Doesn't he look great with his hood?

I kept getting teary eyed because I was so proud of his accomplishment!

Jason still has to defend his disertation in the middle of September, but for the most part he is done. And it is a big weight off his shoulders since he started working full time in April.
Way to go Babe!!

After two days of complete activity he finally tuckered out on the way home. But he would not let go of his balloon. I think it is a sweet, sweet picture.

The Funk

So, for Thursday and Friday I was in a funk. I won't go into the whys, but I did not appreciate it. I am usually fairly good about keeping upbeat and positive. These last couple days I didn't. And, Man, a funk can make you tired. So last night I went to bed at 10 and didn't get up until 7:30. Once I was awake I decided to go for a run (that usually perks me right up) While I was running I started thinking about "The Funk" and decided to list what I was grateful for. This was inpart to ease myself into a happier mind state and to distract myself from dying of thirst. Here is what I came up with...
I have the most gorgeous little boy
My husband is dang good looking and he has such strength of character that I often look to him when I am in merky waters, plus he is my BEST friend
I have the greatest family anyone could ever ask for and we are going to be together for eternity
I get to look at awe inspiring mountains out my window every day
The gospel is an anchor to my soul and in the Lord I can do anything and handle anything that comes my way
I have my health-- at least enough to be running and listing various things in my head at the same time
Jason and I have our own room (that may not seem like much, but after having Jefferson share our room for a year, it is wonderful)
I have friends. I may not have many, but I am sure that I do have some. Don't laugh
I have many interests in life that keep me learning and growing
I have a roof over my head and food in the fridge
Jason took my car and filled up my really low tires at 8 last night so I could go have some time to myself today
etc. etc. etc.
And you know what...It worked. I am happy as a clam (whatever that means). What are you grateful for?
