Happy St. Patricks Day!!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!
So, I really wanted to make something green for dinner and Jason did not appreciate that idea at all. He did not want to eat green eggs and ham nor green mashed potatoes, etc. And when I suggested naturally green foods like green beans, peas or spinach he decided he wanted pizza for dinner. He really hates vegetables, which is a constant struggle for me because I quite enjoy them. Instead of pizza I am making a delicious Irish Stew (except I am using beef not lamb)that I found at http://foodwishes.blogspot.com and with that we are having home-made potato bread. I think that is a very appropriate St. Patty's Day meal don't you? Jason just doesn't know how to get into the spirit of the holiday. I am sure he didn't even wear green today. I will have to pinch him.

This is Jefferson after a shot of Irish whiskey. J/K

Hope you are all enjoying the luck of the Irish today!!

Skillz

Once upon a time in the not so distant past, I played a lot of basketball. Seriously, the ball was like another appendage. However, since having Jefferson and being busy with life I haven't been able to play very often. Well, I haven't been able to play at all. It's really sad. So Jason got called to the Young Men's Presidency and as part of his calling he is over the sports. Every Thursday Jefferson and I would accompany Jason to the church and watch the basketball games and Jefferson would pretend he was four feet taller and that he could play with the big boys. It was really fun to watch and it made me long for the good ole days when I was on a team. So, the other night we had a ward game night and half of the gym was left open for basketball. I grabbed a ball and quickly shot a basket from the free throw line. AND. I. AIR-BALLED. REALLY. BAD. I was so heartbreakingly embarrassed at how bad it was. I have now transfered all my hopes and dreams of being a great basketball star onto Jefferson. He already has mad skills! Check it out.

This kid can jump. NCAA here I come. (We don't really care for the NBA)

Here I go again!!

Okay, so Jason was helping, but he'll get there.
We're working on dribbling and passing.

I sure hope he likes basketball when he gets older:)

Right now he just likes anything involving a ball.

Craft Month!

According to JoAnn Fabrics, March is "Craft Month" so I decided to take full advantage of the coupons and the excuse to make lots of fun stuff. Last week I started out by taking Jason's "too short pajama pants" and turning them into pajama shorts. His pants get short on him really fast and it drives me crazy to see him walking around the house in flooders. I know I am OCD about some things, give me a break. They actually turned out really good and are the perfect length. They came in real handy when Jefferson was sick. In an hour time span Jason went through about three pair. I also turned one of my "too short pants" into to crop pants for this summer. It was super easy and took no time at all.
I started these last week, but finished them today. I took a bunch of my extra fabric and made two reversible half aprons. They are also pretty easy and can be finished in an hour each. I now have a lot less fabric scrapes which makes me happy because now I can go buy really pretty new fabric.

The flip side

Next up on my list are these really cute fleece monsters that I saw in the JoAnn advertisment. I am going to make it for Jefferson's birthday which is coming up in a few weeks. I also want to sew new pillows for the couches, paint various letter "T's" that I have collected to hang in the kitchen, tweek our Europe pictures so I can finally hand them in the office, finish putting together the cook book that I started, and many more things. We'll see how many things I will actually get done. Wish me luck!

What cute things are you making?

Vomitous Maximus

My sweet little boy is sick. He is almost two years old and he had never thrown-up. I was counting my lucky stars on Monday night when Jason yells"KARA!" And I knew that my luck had run out. Jefferson had refused to eat almost every thing that day and had only drank his strawberry milk for dinner and had eaten a few strawberries. That did not make a good picture. It was horrible, awful, disgusting, the worst smell ever. And it was everywhere. He definitely made up for the fact that he had never puked. He got about 3 baths that night and I was up until midnight doing laundry incase we needed to change the sheets again in the middle of the night. As gross as it was, my heart was breaking. Jefferson was so scared. And I felt horrible. I would have gladly been sick instead of him.

Well, two days later he seems to be felling a little better. He still won't really eat, but he does drink water and some juice. He gets to watch "Sid, the Science Kid" and lay on my shoulder most of the day. I don't get anything done and on top of that I am starting to feel yucky, so I may not get anything done at all this week. But that is life and hopefully we will all be healthy by the weekend. But what really gets me upset is that it is actually nice here and we are stuck inside. It sucks bad! Hope you all are healthy and enjoying the nice weather!
