Me and My Place in Space

Jefferson's current favorite book is called "Me and My Place in Space". It talks all about the solar system, galaxies, and the Universe. We read it A LOT! So it was quite a nice surprise that Jason's work held an open house for families of employees to come and see their last rocket from one of the programs. (Only employees are usually allowed on the work sights- so I had never seen where he worked) We got to see the rocket, the control room, the bunker, some moon rocks, and the Rocket Garden. It was a really fun day. Jefferson is still talking about it.

A sort of family picture in front of the rocket. Jefferson really wanted to go look so we never got a picture of him actually looking at the camera. The picture only shows the top half. It was quite large. Jeffers wanted to climb in the bottom where the fire comes out and he kept waiting for it to "shoot into the sky".

Addi enjoyed most of the trip from the comfort of the carseat.

He is very interested in what is inside. Good thing it's only a model.

Some moon rock!!

The Rocket Garden. This is basically all Jefferson can talk about these days. He wants to go back so bad. He thought it was the coolest thing he had ever seen.

He loved playing around in this segment of a rocket. He tried to run up the sides and bavk and forth and he really liked that everything echoed inside.

Bonus!! They were giving out "Punch out" rockets so you could "build" your own. He loves it. That night Jason had to put the poster and the rocket on his wall so he could see it all the time. I am so glad that he enjoys books and being able to see the things that he reads about.

Really great trip followed by homemade shortbread with strawberry jam and delicious watermelon from our garden and naps.

  1. How cool to have a daddy that works at a rocket place! What an unusual work party experience. Addi does look like Jefferson.
