For Labor Day I really wanted to do something outdoors. I have been itching to get outside and enjoy nature as a family for quite a while, so when I heard about Waterfall Canyon I knew it was a great idea. Monday morning we packed sandwiches, grapes, fruit leather, and crackers and set out on our way. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. It was not too hot and there was a very nice breeze. The hike itself was not too bad. It was 3 miles round trip. A little more steep than we thought it would be, but Jefferson did awesome and Addison slept the whole way up, woke up to eat and the Waterfall, then slept the whole way down. Sooooo beautiful!!
I'm the tiny person on the right. You can tell I have Addison in a carrier on the front of me. I got to the waterfall first to Jason took a picture from down below. I felt so great. I was so hot because Addi was on my front and I had my camelbak back pack on my back. Makes for one sweaty Kara, but atleast I was balanced. It was actually pretty funny because a lot of people had the same idea we did, and a lot of women would stop and ask me how old our baby was. And when I would reply, "Almost 7 weeks", they would get this bug-eyed look and pat me on the back and say, "wow, way to go", or "I wasn't even out of the house when my babies were 7 weeks". It made me laugh and feel good about myself. I have always loved hiking.
Jefferson absolutely loved the waterfall and finding "moster" rocks along the trail. He did so great. I was worried he would get super tired because of how steep and rocky it was, but he did awesome and he didn't stop talking about it all day. He did cry on the way down because he didn't want to leave the waterfall. So sad!Ahhh, the beauties the Lord has layed out for us the enjoy. Such a great day!!
What a nice activity to spend with your own immediate family on Labor Day. Sounds like it was fun!
